Chat isn't connecting
What to check if a channel's messages aren't coming in, there's a connection line above the feed or the channel won't add.
Messages aren't coming in
Go through the list:
- The channel is on. Open Broadcasts & chats, click the channel and check Show messages.
- The channel hasn't hit the limit. If the channel in the list says Not connected, plan limit under its name, its chat doesn't come in: the free plan runs one enabled channel per platform. Turn off another channel on that platform, and this one connects on its own.
- The name is correct. Compare it with the channel's address on the platform. For YouTube, you need the channel's @handle, not a video link.
- The stream is live. YouTube and TikTok messages come in only during a public stream. After the stream starts, wait up to a minute.
- The chat isn't empty. Send a test message to the channel's chat from your phone or browser.
- The connection is fine. There's no Connection lost, No internet or Not signed in to SatomiChat line above the feed.
Connection lost
SatomiChat servers read platform chats, and the app receives messages from them. A Connection lost line above the feed means the connection to the servers dropped and the chat isn't updating. On the right, you can see how long the connection has been down.
The app reconnects on its own. When the connection is back, the line shows Connection restored and how long the chat wasn't updating. If the line stays up for a long time, check your internet connection and try turning off VPN and proxies.
No internet means the computer itself has no network connection.
Not signed in to SatomiChat
The app couldn't sign in to its account. Underneath, the line says Signing in with Steam: the app signs in again on its own. Sign-in goes through Steam, so make sure Steam is running and you're signed in to it.
The channel won't add
- Free plan has one channel per platform: the free plan allows one channel per platform. A turned-off channel also takes up a slot. Delete one you don't need or click More channels: once you've paid for Satomi Pro, the channel is added on its own.
- Failed to connect channel: try again in a minute. If it keeps happening, contact support.
- A red hint under the field: the name has invalid characters or the wrong length. The rules for each platform are in Adding channels.
