How to connect a YouTube live chat, which events you see and why you can't write in YouTube chat from the app.

How to connect

Add the channel by its @handle or by a link like youtube.com/@handle. You don't need to paste a link to a specific stream: the app finds the channel's live stream on its own.

Once the stream starts, the chat is picked up within a minute. If the channel is running several streams at once, the app reads all of them and adds up their viewers in the stats.

What you see

  • messages;
  • Super Chats and Super Stickers;
  • memberships, including gifted ones;
  • gifts and raids;
  • chat mode changes, such as “members only”;
  • polls and pinned messages on the panel above the feed;
  • message deletions and bans.

YouTube doesn't provide follows or subscriptions. You choose which events to show in Appearance → Platforms → YouTube.

Click a username to open the viewer card: it shows when their channel was created. From the card you can assign the viewer a voice, mute their TTS or hide them in the widget.

What's not available

You can't write in YouTube chat or moderate it from the app: the chat is read-only. That's why YouTube messages don't have Reply and Mention in their menu.
