Main window
What the SatomiChat window is made of: title bar, combined feed, events panel, message field, Pro and TTS notices, and stats.
Title bar
Drag the title bar to move the window around the screen; double-click it to maximize. On the right:
- the wave button Stop TTS, visible when TTS is on;
- the gear, Settings;
- the minimize, maximize and close buttons. The X closes the app completely; there's no tray icon.
Feed
Messages from all connected channels arrive in a single feed. Each message has a platform icon and the viewer's badges. Events appear between messages: follows, subscriptions, raids, gifts and more. You choose which events to show for each platform in Settings → Appearance → Platforms.
What else you can turn on in Appearance:
- message time: Show timestamps, off by default;
- viewer avatars: Show avatars in the platform settings, off by default;
- platform icon, viewer badges and links: on by default;
- page titles and clip cards instead of link addresses: Link previews, on by default.
Pause
The feed stops when you scroll up, open a message menu or open a viewer card. New messages keep piling up in the meantime, and a button with a counter appears at the bottom. Click it to jump back to the latest messages. What you missed is marked off by a New messages divider.
You can also pause the feed when the cursor hovers over it: Appearance → Pause on hover.
Message actions
- Right-click a message to open its menu: reply, assign a voice, mute TTS, delete and more.
- Click a username to open the viewer card on every platform except W.TV. From the card you can assign the viewer a voice, mute their TTS or hide them in the widget, and on Twitch and Kick you can also moderate.
More in Message menu and moderation.
Panel above the feed
A semi-transparent bar appears above the feed when a channel has a poll, prediction or Hype Train running, or a pinned message. More in Pins, polls, predictions and Hype Train.
Message field
At the bottom of the window is the field for writing to chat. It's there if you have a Twitch, Kick or VK Video Live channel connected. To write, you need a platform account: until one is chosen, you'll see a Connect Twitch account or Choose account bar instead of the field. More in Signing in to platform accounts.
- Enter sends the message, Shift+Enter starts a new line.
- The up and down arrows scroll through your recently sent messages.
- The / button shows the list of commands.
- The round button on the left picks which chat to write to.
More in Messages to several chats.
Pro and TTS notices
Sometimes a notice about Satomi Pro or TTS appears above the message field. If there's no message field, the notice takes its place.
- “8 TTS messages left” and Text-to-speech is used up: on the free plan, when you have 10 TTS messages or fewer left and when they've run out. Below the title you can see what time the limit refills. The More TTS button takes you to Satomi Pro.
- “Renews October 25”: Steam will soon charge you for Pro, and below is the amount you need in your balance. The Add Steam funds button opens the wallet top-up.
- Pro has ended or Steam payment failed: the Get Pro back button takes you to the subscription checkout.
The X hides the notice until something changes. There are no notices in game mode; a line in the feed tells you when TTS runs out.
Below the field is the stats bar: viewers and donations for the stream. You can move it to the title bar or above the feed. More in Stream stats.
Window on top of a game
To keep the window on top of all others, turn on Appearance → Window → Show chat on top of all windows. For fullscreen games, game mode works better.
