TTS limits

How many messages can be read aloud per day and per minute, when the limit resets, how the app warns you before it runs out and what Satomi Pro changes.

How much you can read aloud

FreeSatomi Pro
TTS per day505,000
Phrases per minuteup to 40up to 200
Length of one phraseup to 500 charactersup to 650 characters

One TTS message is one phrase read aloud, no matter how long the message is. Chat messages and raids count toward the limit. The ▶ button you use to listen to a voice in settings also uses one TTS message. Messages that didn't pass the filters don't count. The limit is shared across your account: if SatomiChat is open on two computers, they use the same counter.

A phrase longer than allowed isn't skipped but trimmed. On the free plan, this can happen if Maximum length in the filters is set above 500.

When it resets

The limit resets at midnight UTC (00:00 UTC). The Current session card shows how much you've used and how long until the reset.

When the limit runs out

On the free plan, the app warns you in advance. When 10 TTS messages or fewer are left, a banner appears above the message field: how many are left and when the limit resets.

Once they've run out:

  • A Text-to-speech is used up banner appears above the message field, with the time it'll work again and a More TTS button. In game mode, the same info shows as a line in the feed.
  • A Text-to-speech is used up banner also appears at the top of the TTS page.
  • Phrases that are already prepared finish playing; new messages are skipped.
  • After the reset, TTS resumes on its own; there's no need to restart the app.

With Satomi Pro there are no banners: if you use up all 5,000 TTS messages, you get a Text-to-speech is used up notification with the time it'll work again.

Too many messages at once

If chat suddenly gets very busy, TTS hits the phrases-per-minute limit. You may then get a Text-to-speech paused notification. TTS carries on by itself, but some messages are skipped in the meantime.
