Voices and per-viewer voices

How to choose the main voice, why viewers have different voices and how to assign a voice to a specific viewer.

Which voices are available

The voice list depends on the interface language: the voices read text in that language. You can change the language in Settings → Language, time & currency. For the Russian and Ukrainian interface, multilingual voices are also added to the list.

Voices in the list are split into Female voices and Male voices. The ▶ button next to a voice reads a test phrase. The set of voices is the same on the free plan and with Satomi Pro.

Random voice

Random voice is selected by default. It doesn't mean a new voice for every message: each viewer gets their own consistent voice, so they're easy to recognize by ear. If you pick a specific voice, it reads all viewers except those who have a voice assigned separately.

Voice for a specific viewer

From the feed

  1. Right-click the viewer's message, or click their username to open the viewer card.
  2. Choose Assign voice.
  3. Find a voice with Search voice… and click it.
Assigning a voice to a viewer from the message menu

To give the viewer back the main voice, open the same menu and click Reset voice.

From settings

  1. Text-to-speech → Personalization → Viewer voices.
  2. Click Add voice or group and choose a voice.
  3. Type the name in the Enter username field and press Enter. You can add several viewers to one card.

The name is matched case-insensitively and only as a whole. An @ at the start doesn't matter. For TikTok, both the display name and the @username work. Assigning a voice from the feed is more reliable: that way the name is sure to match.

Fixed voice per viewer

Text-to-speech → Advanced has a Fixed voice per viewer switch. With it, each viewer gets a consistent voice even if one main voice is selected, and the voice from a group stops changing from message to message.

Voice selection order

  1. The voice or group assigned to the viewer.
  2. Random voice or Fixed voice per viewer.
  3. The main voice from the Audio card.
